Backstory
Caroline took a non-traditional career path to cybersecurity, from working in PR sales at Dolce & Gabbana, to opening and operating flagship SoulCycle studios in Los Angeles, to landing at AlienVault and then becoming part of AT&T Cybersecurity. She has a passion for people and creating meaningful relationships along the way. While working full time, she is continuing her education through Harvard University’s extension program.

As an investor, mentor and board member he has helped multiple generations of entrepreneurs build more than 15 successful cybersecurity companies. In his General Partner role at Ballistic, Roger taps into over 30 years of experience and counsels future generations of cybersecurity founders who are focused on building great products as a foundation for great companies.

Agnes So has been instrumental in leading Ballistic’s finance and operations functions since its inception in 2021. Agnes developed a fascination for venture capital while she was an auditor at Deloitte. Since then, she has spent more than a decade honing her skills in the venture capital business at both Kleiner Perkins and Westlake Village BioPartners. As CFO for Ballistic, Agnes drives internal operations and manages finance for a world-class venture capital team.

Backstory
Jake has a unique combination of operating and investing experience, which supports founders as they grow their businesses. Previously, as sole founder of Stone Bridge Ventures, 12 of his early-stage investments grew to become unicorn companies. Prior to that, he was president of TenX/Auction. With 800 people in his reporting org, he grew the real estate-focused transactional online marketplace to be the industry’s leading platform. The company was acquired for $1.6B. Jake started his tenure in venture capital as a member of the team that launched Lightspeed Venture Partners and became a key Managing Director helping drive the firm’s early growth. Early on, he was a Cisco product lead for the team that commercialized broadband technology, helping the group grow from startup to a $1B revenue run rate in 2 years and drove many important cybersecurity-focused innovations into his products. He holds an BS in Electrical Engineering and an M.Eng in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT. At MIT, he was awarded the Karly Taylor Compton Prize, the highest honor given to a student. He is a long-serving board member of the MIT Club of Northern California. In 2009, he was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Ted’s legendary career in venture capital spanning 25 years at Kleiner Perkins and more than 30 years in cybersecurity make him uniquely qualified to lead the Ballistic team as a General Partner. His roles as operator, founder, investor and advisor have resulted in the creation of companies that have fundamentally shaped the cybersecurity landscape, while returning billions of dollars to shareholders. Ted provides counsel to the U.S. intelligence community, serves on the Board of Trustees at InQTel, and was recently named as a board member of the CISA Cybersecurity Advisory Committee. Ballistic is the embodiment of Ted’s vision for how venture capital can play a crucial role in the continual fight for a free and secure digital future.

Backstory
Globally recognized as one of the most successful leaders in enterprise software and cybersecurity, Barmak Meftah has a distinguished career marked by transformative leadership. Before founding Ballistic, he was the President of AT&T Cybersecurity, a position he took on following the successful acquisition of AlienVault. As CEO of AlienVault, he positioned the company as a market leader in unified security management and open-source threat intelligence. His strategic vision and leadership at AT&T Cybersecurity cemented its status as a top-five global managed security services provider. Meftah also served as Vice President of the Enterprise Security Products division at HP, following HP’s acquisition of Fortify Software, where he was the Chief Product Officer and one of the first employees. His career includes several senior management roles at Oracle, notably as head of products for the Oracle RDBMS for the Windows platform in the Server Technologies group. As General Partner at Ballistic, he mentors and guides startup CEOs through the complexities and challenges of building great teams and companies.

Backstory
Nicole Perlroth spent a decade as the lead cybersecurity correspondent for The New York Times. Her investigations rooted out nation-state cyberattacks on American businesses and critical infrastructure, earning her the prestigious “Best in Business” Award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. Her investigation into commercial spyware was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
She is the author of The New York Times bestselling book “This Is How They Tell Me The World Ends,” about the global cyber arms race, which won the 2021 McKinsey and Financial Times’ “Business Book of the Year Award.”
Perlroth is an advisor to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Council on Foreign Relations’ Cyber Task Force as well as a select handful of cybersecurity startups that are significantly moving the needle on digital threats.
Perlroth is a graduate of Princeton University (B.A.), Stanford University (M.A.) and the mother to a very active little boy.

Backstory
Kevin Mandia is one of the world’s most recognized experts in cybersecurity and a relentless warrior deeply engaged in fighting cyber threats for more than 30 years. As Co-founder and Strategic Partner of Ballistic Ventures, he mentors entrepreneurs on their journey, leveraging his extensive knowledge of the threat landscape and strengths as a successful founder and CEO.
Kevin has served as the CEO of Mandiant since 2016, including through its corporate name change from FireEye, Inc. to Mandiant, Inc. in 2021, and through a successful acquisition by Google in 2022. He has spent more than 25 years in information security helping make organizations secure from cyber threats. In addition to serving as the CEO and a board member of Mandiant and as a board member of the CISA Cybersecurity Advisory Committee, Kevin has held senior positions in the security consulting divisions of Sytex, acquired by Lockheed Martin, and Foundstone, acquired by McAfee.
In the United States Air Force, Kevin served as a computer security officer at the Pentagon, and later a special agent in the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. He holds a BS in computer science from Lafayette College and an MS in forensic science from The George Washington University.
